Our first class ever and it was great! Special thanks to our first instructor Patrick Egger, co-owner of Normal Human. Zz School is so grateful for their generosity and support! We wouldn't be here without them!
Each Tuesday and Thursday for the duration of the course, the Zz School classroom would be carved out of this commercial shop. Zz School equipment was designed to be entirely collapsible and stored in a small section of the basement. We would push forward the cash wrap and t-shirt printing carousel, bring folding tables from the basement and each student would first assemble their printing station at the front of each class session.
Students were invited to use the shop as an “open source facility”. Meaning information concerning any aspect of Normal Human as an artist run business was available to the students. Any knowledge from DIY equipment construction to the how-to's of accepting payments using an iPad were accessible to participants during the course.
Participant were provided all equipment and materials, except paper and gained experience with several screen-printing techniques from direct stencil processes to photographic methods.
The final week of the course each student designed and printed their own two color t-shirt, using a professional t-shirt carousel, learning and utilizing the complex registration methods of the trade.
