The Zz School was honored to have Breanne Trammell as our first visiting artist in November 2014. Her project "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" featured a collection of printed matter inspired by and extracted from the LaBudde Special Collections at the Miller Nichols Library at UMKC.
This project concluded in a print happening and show-and-tell event at Plug Projects, featuring two guest speakers who brought images and objects from local archives to share with the group; Stuart Hinds from GLAMA and Michael Boles sharing his Private Birthday Party research. Attendees were encouraged to bring and share their own objects and histories. Each participant was given a full suite of prints from the edition as a takeaway archive.
This visiting artist program aims to bring two artists per year from outside the region to Kansas City to execute a print-based and socially conscious artwork specific to our city. Events generated through this project will always aim to activate the viewer and encourage social interaction.
